Overview
Once an organization has established its action plan, and once its global strategy involves GHG focusing elements, it is time to ensure the compatibility of this strategy with a low-carbon society.
The first method you could use in order to determine an emissions reduction objective and trajectory compatible with a +2° world, is the Science Based Targets (SBT). This method from WRI, CDP and WWF is a way to build an emission trajectory compatible with the IPCC recommendations.
Another source of information are the IEA scenarios, which present trajectories, in particular for the energy sector.
Built on different scenarios of sectoral emissions consistent with the IPCC recommendations, ACT is a company assessment methodology, which aims to give investors a comprehensive information about how a company is coherent with a 2° compatible pathway. A first experimentation has studied great companies in the energy, auto-industry and retail sectors. A second one has been organised in the framework of the Clim'Foot project. It is focused on SMEs in France, in the energy, mass retail, building and agriculture sectors.
