2021 : What's new in the Clim'Foot community?
We would like to thank our 859 membres for involve themselves in carbon accounting through Clim’Foot project. Another new feature: the training module is operationnel. Don’t hesitate to train yourself to acquire skills and facilitate the use of the Bilan Carbone(r) Clim’Foot tool! We organised three webinars to keep you informed about climate news in Europe. All the webinars are available in replay on ABC Youtube channel.
To begin with, we had a focus on the EU green Deal regarding Ursula Von Der Deyen announcement in December 2019.
EU Green Deal: an innovative path to reach a low carbon Europe?
The new European Commission has defined an ambitious European Green Deal to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050. What is the Green Deal added-value compared to the existing climate policies and regulations? From circular economy to energy-efficiency to non-financial reporting, the aim is to translate the Green Deal objectives into all EU policies taking account of social aspects.
How will the Green Deal impact companies, citizens, public organisations, etc.? Through this webinar, we would like to give you the key elements to understand the Green Deal’s challenges and raise awareness about the further development.
Then, regarding the pandemic impact we focused on policies to analyze climate part and the balance between economy, social model and environnement.
Recovery plans & climate issues
The Covid-19 sanitary crisis has shaken up the economic order at worldwide level. It also highlighted environmental issues through biodiversity gain, changes in greenhouse gas emissions, postponement of the earth overshoot day. We should take advantage of the economic recovery plan as “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” at regional and national level to meet long-term energy and climate goals. What is the balance between green and brown spending for a green recovery? From Next Generation EU to national recovery policies, is it possible to have a sustainable and resilient economy?
Through this webinar, we sought to draw a parallel between the priorities for a low carbon transition and the current measures taken by policy makers.
Finally, 5 years after the Paris Agreement, we tried to identify non-state-actors' commitment and the spread of climate issues in society.
What kind of climate projects are undertaken by ABC’s partners? Cities and regions in transition, carbon footprint, climate education, environmental impact...
2030 climate and energy framework, 2050 long-term strategy and so on... Of course, we need to design frameworks and prospective roadmaps to anticipate required changes to reach a climate-neutral society.
Beside political level, organisations are also key actors to initiate meaningful projects with a climate dimension. After the EU Green Deal (webinar #1) and the Recovery plans (webinar #2), let’s see what is happening at the organisational level.
For this last webinar of the year, we are inviting you to discover the projects designed and implemented by our partners to follow the fight against climate change. Come and find out about these innovative projects for which you could benefit from resources, tools, and data.
Stay tuned for the next news!
